Don, beloved son of Kanichi and Aki [Nakamura] Kishibe, beloved brother to Kaye {Mary} and Kenzo {Giselle Lacombe}, and beloved husband to Camellia {Duhaime}, passed away from a heart attack at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario.

Don was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His family sailed to Japan in August 1947 where, in less than a year, his father died in an industrial accident. The mother and three sons returned to Canada in 1954, settling in London, Ontario.

Don astonished his mother by teaching himself to read at the early age of three. Acquiring and sharing knowledge remained a lifelong source of pleasure.

Don established himself as a photographer for the Kumano Studio and was later recruited as a medical photographer for the large medical teaching centre known as the London Health Sciences Centre. He soon became well-respected and highly valued by the medical community. Don eventually taught medical photography at the London community college.

Don was also passionate about his hobby, competitive target shooting. He became a member of the Canadian National Team for five years. His other strength in this sport was as a lifetime official, where one of his fondest memories was officiating at the Montreal Olympics.

Don will be remembered for his quiet steadfastness and relentless strive for excellence in all aspects of his life. He is profoundly missed.

Don was my friend/coach/mentor from my very first shot, as a target shooter. Without his guidance, calmness, insight, knowledge, my career would have been a lot shorter. He supported a lot of other shooters, & was very thoughtful before he spoke, but then you listened. Crumlin Sportsmens Club, London, & the provincial & federal associations benefitted greatly from him.
Beyond that, he was a very special man, & will miss knowing he is around.
My deep condolences to Cam, & Don's family.

I knew Don through the shooting sports, first meeting him at the UWO Rifle and Pistol Club. I benefited greatly from his coaching as I continued in the sport both he and I love. He was a quiet soft spoken man, with a devilish sense of humour. Our relationship continued as CFSC/CRFSC Instructors for the Province of Ontario, and he was the photographer at our wedding. He will be missed but always be in our memories.
Shelley and I offer our deepest condolences to Cam and Don's family.

I remember Don in the early days of his Medical Photography days coming to the operating room. He was quiet, respectful and very talented. The surgeons were always happy when they got Don to do their work. Such a kind soul.

Don was a valued colleague at Victoria Hospital in London. He was always available to help with medical photography.
He was so kind in April 1993 to videotape our daughter’s memorial service. This gave us a lasting memory of a sad day .

I remember Don from my Victoria Hospital days. In addition to his responsibilities with medical photography, he attended and photographed many hospital events for staff and patients. I remember him as a quiet and unassuming man, but always with a warm smile. My interactions with him always felt special. I am sorry for your loss.

Please accept my condolences on the recent death of Don. My husband ( Guy DeRose) and I knew him from Victoria Hospital at South Street. I worked in Physiotherapy and Don assisted in the creation of patient information booklets and videos. Guy is a Vascular Surgeon and Don was frequently in the Operating Room taking photos of surgeries and interesting anatomy.
Don was quiet but had a sly sense of humour. He was part of the fabric of South Street where everyone worked together and became life long friends. It was a very special place to work in health care.
Thank you for putting the notice in the London Free Press. Guy and i remember Don with great affection. Our sympathies to your family.

I remember Don from the first time I came into the shooting sports in the early 70s. His quiet, calm presence was only surpassed by his knowledge of the sport.
John
I fondly remember Don as a true gentleman in every sense of the word. From his boyish grin to his quiet way of speaking you just know this was a man of substance by the vast knowledge he readily imparted to anyone who asked and listened.
Donna
We send our sincere condolences to Cam and family and hope the joy of your memories outweigh the sadness of your loss.

It was with great sadness I read of Don's passing. I first met Don some 30 years ago at the UWO Rifle & Pistol Club where, on behalf of the OHA, Don taught me to become a Handgun Safety Instructor and a Bullseye range officer. But that was only the start of the wonderful advice and friendship that were the benefits of Knowing Don. It was Don's advice and coaching that allowed me to become proficient enough to receive an invitation to join the Ontario Provincial Pistol team in the early 1990's. Unfortunately I was not able to take advantage of that opportunity as I was very busy working on obtaining my PhD. To this day I wish I had been able to do so as I believe it would have been a way to honour Don by putting what he had taught me to use at a level of inter provincial competition. I know without a scintilla of doubt that Don will be sorely missed by all who experienced his kindness, generosity, humour, and warm personality touched over the years. My condolences to his family on their loss. I shall miss him while memories of our friendship shall always warm my heart.

It was long ago, but not far away that Don and I competed in the various disciplines of bullseye pistol shooting. During that time we became friends and he was a regular at my home shooting ranges in Omemee, where and when I ran matches to sharpen the skills of the Ontario members of the National Shooting Team. It is with sadness that I learned of his passing. Fran and I wish his family relief from the pain of his loss.
