It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Doris Marion Traplin (Scherling). She passed away peacefully at Lisaard House Hospice, with family by her side on November  12, 2019 at the age of 93 years.

Doris was born on Feb 18, 1926 in Rainy River, 8th of 9 children. She loved to sing and dance,  winning competitions in her home town of Rainy River. After her father passed away her mother moved the family to Owen Sound and it was there at a dance she met her future husband Thomas Albert Traplin.  Married on March 27, 1948 they sang and danced together till his passing in 1996. Fiercely independent, Doris stayed on in her home in Port Colborne until declining health forced her to move to a seniors residence in Waterloo and closer to her son and daughter in law.

Doris is survived by her brother Roy (Lois) Scherling of Belleville. Children, Erick (Ruth) Traplin, Marianne (Randy) Bryant, Tom (Rose) Traplin, Stephen (Laura) Traplin, Ralph. Grandchildren Carrie, Christopher, Jimmy, Nicole, Andrew, Jennifer, Katy, Angela, Bryan, Jasmine. Great Grandchildren, Nevin, Kaleb, Mia, Gage, Connor, Logan and Lilah Rose.

Cremation has taken place and at Mom’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lissard House or  Innisfree House.

Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visir Doris' obituary notice on Facebook.

What a beautiful and dear friend we had in Doris. I will always remember our laughs and good visits as we shared our dinning table daily together at Laurelwood. Her Friendship was a blessing I will always treasure. Sending my deepest sympathies to her family.

Our condolences on your loss. While we did know Doris that well we knew and had previously worked with many of the children.

We were only in Doris's company a handful of times and that was during the preparations leading up to Jimmy and Christina's wedding, baby shower, etc. In those few times, we saw what a truly strong woman she was. She always had a smile on her face and was such a pleasant person to be around. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and our thoughts and prayers go out to Tom and Rose and the entire Traplin family for their loss.

To the Traplin Family,

We are so sorry for your loss. Both Tom & Doris were very influential in our lives as young adults. Whether we spent time on the golf course or having a home cooked meal together we laughed, cried and shared very precious moments together and we still incorporate the words of wisdom they taught us in our lives today and continue to pass it on to others. Both of your parents will have a very special place in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole family at this time.
Hopefully, Tom & Doris are dancing together once again.

Love from,

Greg & Heather Vance

My Dear Cousins....what fond memories I have of the times we spent together. Visiting you in Durham and the house on Dupont Ave. I think those days were some of the best of my childhood....your Mom and Dad and all the joy in your Family. How I envied the joy and happiness within your household....all five of you being part of the love your parents held for each other.
Your Mom was rich in love....she was my favorite "Aunt"...probably my favorite person aside from my Mother.
Your Mom was an amazing woman. Hold her dear in your hearts, as I will. With prayers and sympathy.....your cousin LeeAnn.
