Passed away peacefully, following a brief illness at Grand River Hospital on Thursday January 2, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Beloved husband of Valerie H. Bock (nee Hughes) whom he married 57 years ago on June 2, 1962. Loving Father of Traci Bock, Donna Bock and Steven Bock (Swan). Predeceased by his parents, Truman and Jennie Bock.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held with interment in Woodland Cemetery.  Donations may be made to a charity of choice as expressions of sympathy.

The family would like to thank Paula and her wonderful staff and volunteers at The Sunnyside Senior’s Day Program. Doug always enjoyed the times he spent there.  We would also like to thank the staff at Nithview Long Term Care Home, for the care he received during his short stay there.

Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237.  Please visit Doug's obituary notice on Facebook.

Hey Bocks family. I'm so sorry to hear about Doug passing. Sadly I didn't know him as well as I would have liked but I do remember each and every encounter with him he was always a kind, gentle, happy, and entertaining man even when we crossed paths this summer at Alice's he was always up for trying to get a laugh out of us (or maybe it was just me as I laugh at everything).

It was a pleasure to know Doug even in the briefest of time. My deepest condolences to you all, stay strong and support each other. <3

So sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. Doug was a wonderful neighbour to us on Idlewood Drive. He always had time to chat and our boys received many “dinky” cars from him, all of which we still have. Rest In Peace.

Our deepest sympathy to you, Val, and your family. Ron enjoyed many good visits and talks with Doug on "good old Idlewood Dr." Thinking about you at this sad time.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Doug really missed life at Idlewood, talking to the neighbours and anyone that passed by the house. He did gradually get to know people around our neighbourhood as we have a community trail along side our complex. They would often ask after him when he was no longer able to take Jake (our cat) for walks. And he really enjoyed his time at Sunnyside. Sadly he took very ill at Christmas and did not recover
