1935 – 2018

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ina Wells on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018. With family by her side, Ina passed peacefully after a short but brave battle with cancer. Ina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in–law, aunt and friend.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, brother Robert, and mother Ina. Loving mother to son Robert Wells, and daughter Denise Hay (Allan). Adoring gran to her granddaughters Ashley (Jason), and Emily Hay. Sister-in-law to Jim and Sandra Wells of Elmira, Billy and Pat Wells and other family in Scotland.

Ina was born in Dumfries, Scotland and spent periods of her life in both Scotland and Canada. During her life she worked at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and enjoyed running her Bed & Breakfast business for over twenty years in Kippford, Scotland.

Ina had a real love for life and a strong dedication to her family. She maintained her fierce independence living on her own until the time of her death. Her infectious laugh, Scottish sense of humour and loving smile will be missed.

Ina’s family would like to give special thanks to Grand River Hospital and Innisfree House for their compassionate care and overwhelming support to the family.

Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Innisfree House would be greatly appreciated by the family. Messages and condolences may be left at tricitycremations.com, 519-772-1237.

Thinking of you all during this difficult time. Ina was such a lovely, kind lady. I am certain on Friday she will be looking down on Ashley and Jason with love and pride. Hugs xo

Ina was a true friend and a delight to know. We always looked forward to staying with Ina at her home in Kippford and have many (and some very amusing) happy memories of those times. Ina took great comfort from her animal companions Ailsa, her Scottish terrier and Cheeky, her sleek black cat, after her husband,Tommy passed away. After, Ina moved to Canada with Ailsa, Aquila became her everyday feline best friend. Ina had many friends in Kippford and Dalbeattie and remained in contact with them, and us, after her move to Canada. Ina wanted to be close to her daughter Denise and her granddaughters, Ashley and Emily whom she adored. To the last, Ina displayed bravery, integrity and kindness to all.
