It is with deep sadness that Susan announces the death of her husband Robert at St. Mary’s General Hospital at the age of 56, on Wednesday October 18, 2017. He was a beacon of light to all who knew him. Susan and Robert shared 30 years together. Robert is predeceased by his dear Mother, Marilyn, and Nephew, Josh and lovingly remembered by his Father, Carman (Gloria), Brother, Gary (Nina), Mother-in-law, Ruth Heiman, Melanie (Mark) Chisholm and his dear Nephew, Maclean.

A long-time employee of Home Hardware Stores Ltd. as well as a wholesale manager for Peter Etril Snyder. Robert held positions on and championed many causes including Chair of the Renal Patient Council of Grand River Hospital, a member of the Celiac Foundation and the local chapter of the LHIN.

His passion as a master woodworker gave him much pleasure as did fishing trips with his brother. He had a deep love for his cats, Daphne, Zoe and Molly.

Robert was blessed to be the recipient of a kidney donation and he has passed on a gift through the Trillium Foundation. It was Robert’s wish that everyone sign up at beadonor.ca
Sincere gratitude for the skills, knowledge, support and continued advocacy of Dr. Christine Ribic, and Dr. Mark Benaroia. Additional thanks to the ICU staff at St. Mary’s General Hospital for their care.

Cremation has taken place as per Roberts wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the KW Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association (visit their website at www.celiac.ca).

Rob will be truly missed. He was such an awesome man...always there willing to lend a hand. A wonderful "uncle" and godfather to Megan and Kelly. We all have such fond memories Uncle Rob. The girls loved dancing with him at Melanie's wedding. Sue, our hearts go out to you and we are there for you whenever needed.

Susan: Our hearts go out to you. We loved having you and Rob in our lives. I know we had not seen you in a while and that was all of our fault. Know that we thought of him often and the main reason why we have our organ donor cards filled out and registered is because of you and he. Eddie is now driving and he has done the same without hesitation. If you need us we are here for you. I will miss his hugs and great conversations. Lots of love Kelly, Bill and Eddie.

Dear Susan and family,
I was saddened to hear of Robert's passing. I was a co-worker of Roberts' at Home Hardware many years ago. We shared woodworking as a hobby and I enjoyed traveling with Robert to local woodworking shows. His smile and gentle nature will be missed. I learned a number of life lessons from Robert in the short time I knew him. My condolences.
