Passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at Grand River Hospital on Thursday November 29, 2018, in her 83rd year.

Wife of the late Ronald Heiman, loving mother of Susan Minke (and her late husband Robert), Melanie and her husband Mark Chisholm and dear grandmother of Maclean Chisholm all of Kitchener.  Also loved by her sister, Patricia Carter of London, and nieces Kimberly, Jan, Heather, Kathryn and nephew Alan and their families.  Pre-deceased by her sister, Gladys McKinnon.

Ruth will be fondly remembered by friends from Trinity United Church and the Region of Waterloo Corporate Services. Ruth was an active member of her faith community from a young age into her later years. Ruth enjoyed helping with church services at her nursing home and also being a visiting companion to other Sunnyside residents. Ruth touched many hearts and will be cherished always.

The family thanks the staff at Sunnyside Home, Dr. Kelly (staff on the 5th floor of Grand River Hospital), Dr. Benaroia (3rd Floor Hemo Dialysis staff), Dr. Harlick (Palliative care team) for their dedication to her care.

Visitation will take place at the Dedication Centre of Williamsburg (1541 Fischer-Hallman Rd., Kitchener) on Saturday January 19, 2019, from 1-3 p.m.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the same venue on Sunday January 20, 2019 at 1 p.m., with refreshments to follow. Rev. Katharine Edmonstone will officiate. Donations to Trinity United Church or Sunnyside Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Messages and condolences may be left at tricitycremations.com

Dear Mom,
You taught me strength when times were difficult
You taught me courage when it was hard to be brave
You taught me about love and kindness
and showed me a faith that never waned
You taught me patience and understanding when I became a mom myself,
I will cherish you and hold you in my heart forever.
I love you mom.

What a wonderful sentiment and a wonderful legacy she left you. Witnessing the relationship the two of you had was a gift in itself and I learned from the two of you how wonderful a mother/daughter relationship can be. She will be missed by all her knew her.

I was very saddened to learn of Ruth's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ruth in an office at Westmount Place when we were both legal secretaries. Ruth affectionately always called me "Polly". At that time, she and Ron were also winding up their business on Belmont Ave. so their lives were very busy. Working with Ruth was an absolute pleasure in all ways. I loved her kindness and sense of humour, often even in difficult times. Also, she had a smile that would light up a room. I offer sincere condolences to Sue and Melanie and know their mom will be missed.

Very sorry to learn about Ruth's passing. I met her at Trinity United Church and had the honour to work with her when we both were part of its Worship Committee. She was a very nice lady, and I enjoyed her company, kindness and insight very much.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family. God bless.
