It is with great sadness that the family of WILLIAM JOHNSTONE announce that he has succumbed to his struggle with cancer, but are thankful that he is now at peace with his Lord. He passed away peacefully at his Cambridge home on February 20th, 2018.

William was a loving husband to Donna (Cochrane Greulich), caring father to Sarah Johnstone, Deborah Messier (Richard) and Donald Greulich (Susan). Warm hearted grandfather to Jennifer Messier-Mooney (Nicholaus), Stephen Messier (Rikki), Eliza Vanner (Kirk), Sadie Greulich, Rayna Foster (Jon) and Brad Fay. He was able to enjoy a year of being a dear great-grandfather to Anastazia Vanner.

Bill was born on September 2nd, 1940 in Glasgow, Scotland to Henry and Sarah Johnstone. He is predeceased by brother Harry and sister Anne.

He was trained as a machinist and moved to Canada in 1962 to work at CMC for over 20 yrs. He was working as a Quality Control inspector in the Aerospace industry until he retired. He was an active member of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church for almost 40 years as an elder, serving on the property committee and sang in the choir.  Everyone who met him knew that he was a helpful, caring man that loved life and especially humour. He enjoyed RVing, gardening and a game of golf.

His life will be celebrated at Knox’s Galt Presbyterian Church, 2 Grand Avenue South in Cambridge with a visitation from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2nd and a Service of Remembrance on Saturday March 3rd at 11 a.m.  Memorial donations may be made to Knox’s Galt Presbyterian Church or Cambridge Memorial Hospital (Medical Daycare).

I am saddened to hear the news of Bill’s paling. Donna and Sarah, may God’s embrace you and comfort you at this time. Bill was the very first person to welcome me into the church as I began ministry at Knox’s. He was all full of smiles and his unique sense of humour from the very first moment we met. Bill is with his Lord Jesus! We will see him soon. John &Gloria Paeng

I've known Bill for my entire life, starting from when he and Donna first met my parents. He was a gentle soul, a warm and loving human being, and always had a joke at the ready. It was an honour to know him, and he will be greatly missed by all of us. Godspeed.
