Peacefully passed away on Sunday night, September 22nd at Grand River hospital, in his 95th year.

Born January 9, 1925.  He was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Grassick and siblings Beatrice, Faye and Harry.  He is survived by his loving wife Doris (Hilts) of 66 years, son Reid (Victoria), daughter Heather, brothers Mac and Rick.  His grandchildren Margaret, Matthew (Krista), Ian (Andrea), James (Breanna) and great-grandchildren Makayla, Nicholas, Hayley and Brielle, special nephew Terry (Linda) Hilts and his great friend Jerry (Ruth) Levitt.

He served overseas in the RCAF, 408 Goose Squadron, WO2, mid-upper gunner, Hallies and Lancs.  Retired from Labatt Brewery in 1988 as a 2nd class Stationary Engineer.  His mind was sharp and he had his sense of humour, right to the end.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.

As expressions of sympathy, donations could be made to the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation or the Grand River Hospital Foundation. Messages and condolences may be left at www.tricitycremations.com or 519.772.1237. Please visit William's obituary notice on Facebook.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a wonderful friend since WW2 where we were part of the same RCAF crew. I was "Bomb Aimer" and we flew together in training and in our time in the 408 Goose Squadron. Bill was a wonderful friend and I send my sympathy and love to his family and friends.

Dear family of Bill, You will not realise, but our large wider family through Bill's mum Maggie Mitchell were thinking about you and looking for you when we came upon this sad news, and our hearts are with you. Bill and our granny were cousins through their mothers Maggie and Sophia who were sisters. It may surprise you to know younger 'cousins' who grew up in Aberdeen remembered Bill, Beatrice and Faye in particular as we were collecting stories to add to a family tree site we've built. I wish we had found you sooner to let Bill know, we offer our love in your loss.
I can be contacted at smileyjen101 at hotmail dot com and would love to introduce you and share the stories and information we've collected so so far, if you would like to.

Warm wishes and love Jenny
