Anne Marie McQuistin

1953 - 2026

In loving memory of Anne Marie McQuistin (nee Chopee), affectionately known as Anne, “Gramma,” and Mom. After a long journey with cancer, at age 72, Anne died peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, March 23, 2026 at WRHN - Chicopee (palliative care) in Kitchener

Loving mother of Jamie (Jessica), cherished grandmother of Kate and Andrew, dear sister of Carolyn Orr (Alvin) and Walter Chopee (Kathy). She will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends.

Anne spent most of her life in Sudbury, Ontario, where she worked as a Child & Youth Worker and then a part-time office assistant for Dr. Garrioch. Shortly after her first grandchild was born, Anne moved to Kitchener, where many family birthdays and holidays were celebrated. Anne enjoyed various hobbies, such as knitting and gardening, and had a knack for finding treasures in unlikely places. Anne will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, sense of humour, and most of all her warm hugs.

The family expresses its sincere appreciation to the caring staff at the Waterloo Region Health Network (WRHN) Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, 5th Floor Stroke Care Team (Midtown site), and Palliative Care Team (Chicopee site), as well as everyone who visited and cared for Anne in their own special ways.

Following cremation, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the WRHN Foundation - Cancer Centre.
