James Lindsay Drummond
1933 - 2026
Lindsay passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 22nd, with his loving daughter Wendy holding his hand. Lindsay was born in the city of Oshawa. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science/Chemical Engineering, after which he attended the Toronto Teachers’ College at the University of Toronto. Lindsay then began his teaching career in high school mathematics in Kitchener and then spent most of his career teaching for Brant County. He ended his career as head of the Math department for Paris District High School. He loved gardening, singing, playing badminton, and he was an avid bridge player right up until the end. He was a cherished member of his church and the community.
Survived by his daughters Cathy (Robert) Dieterle and grandchildren Aaron, Michael, Chris (Linda) and great grandchildren Rowan and Evan, and Anne (Jason) and great grandchildren Ian and Luke, Wendy (Craig) Schwindt and granddaughters Melanie and Stephanie; former spouse and mother of his children Marjorie Vernanne Drummond; brother Lawrence (Betty) Drummond; nieces Judy (Ray) DeNure and children Alex, Trevor, Eliza, Linda (Mark) Brewster; nephews Robert Drummond and children Matthew and Rachel, Timothy Nishimura and Peter Nishimura; sister Virginia Giza and children Ardelle and Graeme. Predeceased by his wife Marlene Drummond, sister Julia Nishimura, and son David Drummond.
A celebration of life and reception will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Kitchener, on Friday April 10th at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations as expressions of sympathy to the charities that Lindsay supported would be appreciated: St. Stephen Church, Ray of Hope, One 4 Another, and House of Friendship.
