Bernard (Bernie) James Henry

1941-2025

Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at WRHN at Midtown (Grand River) Kitchener on Saturday April 19, 2025.

Bernie was a long-time and dedicated employee of Home Hardware Stores Ltd. in St Jacob’s. In his younger years Bernie was a devoted volunteer at St. Teresa Parish in Kitchener and St. Vincent de Paul Society generously offering his time and energy to support his community.

One of Bernie’s greatest accomplishments was shaving off his beard after 36 years, a fundraiser, for CHEO Hospital, Ottawa.

Bernie had a deep passion for golf and treasured every opportunity to enjoy a round with friends. Bernie will be fondly remembered for his unwavering commitment, genuine kindness, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Loving husband and best friend to Deborah Glofcheskie-Henry, together for over 30 years. 

Dearest father to Patricia (Craig), and Michael. Predeceased by his son Steven (2000). Step-father to Len.

Adoring grandfather to Patrick and step-grandfather to Lexi.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Lorraine (nee Parks) and his siblings Margaret, David, Ellen, and John Martin.

Bernie’s warmth and presence touched many.  Bernie leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. 

Bernie is dearly missed by his extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will take place in June.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WRHN at (Grand River) or WRHN at (Queens Blvd) Kitchener as expressions of sympathy.
