Beverley smiled and laughed easily. She was warm, kind and caring to all who knew her. She openly welcomed new people into her life and had many circles of friends. Her family was of the utmost importance to her. She cherished her family as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Beverley attended Kimberley Public School (Toronto) before going on to Earl Beatty Public School (Toronto) for an administrative course. After finishing school Beverley worked for “The Bell Telephone” where she learned about drafting. This was a perfect job for her as it appealed to her creative and artistic nature.
Beverley was very creative and had a passion for the arts. From her youth into young adulthood she pursued ballet. She performed at the Eaton Auditorium in Toronto and won several auditions for dance shows. She loved that time of her life and talked about those memories often. Beverley was a passionate and talented artist, painting landscapes, flowers, animals and pets. She mastered pen and ink sketches. This was her favourite medium. She was also a talented knitter/crocheter. Well into her eighties and nineties she created bright and colourful afghans using scraps of wool. These were donated to community centers which were distributed to homeless shelters, hospitals and other organizations. She was known as “the crochet lady” and was often approached to help other people with their projects.
Beverley was very social and loved get-togethers with family and friends. One of her favourite social activities was having intimate conversations over a glass of wine, having soft music playing in the background and candlelight.
She also loved music and attended live theatre productions, symphonies and operas. She loved flowers and was an avid gardener.
Beverley will be missed for her creative spirit, friendly smile, warmth, sensitivity and positive attitude.
We would like to thank the emergency staff at St Mary’s Hospital and Jess on the fifth floor. A very special thank you to Nicole, Carol Ann and Dr. Kim at Freeport’s palliative care unit. We appreciated your smiles, kindness and time spent patiently explaining things to us.
