Carol Frances Kennedy (née Moran)
August 6, 1954 - October 3, 2025
KENNEDY, Carol Frances (née Moran), passed peacefully into God’s care on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Hospice of Waterloo Region, at the age of 71.
Carol will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Beth Kennedy, and her cherished grandson, Ethan Kennedy, as well as by extended family and friends.
Predeceased by her sister Alice Cox and her brother Ross Moran, Carol is survived by her sisters Margaret Armstrong, Patricia Sousa, and Mary Jane Banks.
Carol’s life was deeply shaped by her faith and by her many years in The Salvation Army, where her family’s legacy of compassion and service began. The values she embraced there guided her throughout her life and inspired decades of volunteer work and community involvement.
She dedicated countless hours through the Salvation Army to helping others; from teaching Sunday School, leading a women’s group and Bible studies, to organizing a bus program and church meals. She co-founded the Share the Warmth program, which grew to serve thousands of community members each winter through coat and accessory donations. Carol also played a key role in volunteering with the Food Bank through the church and with the Christmas Toy Program, ensuring more children received something special during the holidays.
Beyond the church, she was a passionate community advocate. She co-founded the Home Child Care Provider Network and contributed to initiatives including PAG (People’s Action Group), Alive (Awareness of Low Income Voices Everywhere), Poverty Professors, the Circle of Friends through the Mennonite Central Committee, Kaleidoscope, and the Community Justice Initiative
Carol’s heart was always open. She gave freely of her time and made space for people in her life offering kindness, conversation, humour, and practical support wherever it was needed. She lived her faith through quiet acts of service and compassion.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at the Williamsburg Cemetery Dedication Centre at 1541-B Fischer-Hallman Road, Kitchener, N2R 0L7 on Saturday, October 11, 2025, service begins at 1:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre in Carol’s memory.
