Christel Hella Schmidtmeyer

1936 – 2025 

Passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday September 28th at the age of 88 years. 

Christel was born in Neustadt, Germany in 1936 to parents Wilhem and Margarete Mewes.  She worked for many years at K-W Hospital where she enjoyed putting smiles on the faces of all the patients.  Christel will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour. She enjoyed driving through the country and long walks with her dog. She especially loved going out for Chinese dinners and spending time with her family.

Beloved wife of the late Adolf Schmidtmeyer who predeceased her on October 3, 2021. They were married for over 63 years.

She leaves behind her wonderful children, Andy (Donna), Michael (Karin) and Sharon Noecker (Warren). Proud Oma of Lyric (Vu), Aaron (Kim), Tyson, Jacob, Nicholas (Cheyenne). Cherished Great Oma of Camren, Sophia, Wren and soon to be a baby Le.

Dear Sister of Petra Riepenhausen (Peter) and a sister -in-law of Marianne Etgeton. 

Predeceased by her parents and siblings; Hans, Olla and Mia. 

Cremation will take place. A private family gathering will be held a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
