David Ross Stuebing

1942 – 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Ross Stuebing, who died peacefully at the Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) @ Midtown on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Kitchener, Dave dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to the skilled trades as a journeyman pipefitter and sprinkler fitter. Proud owner and operator of Hillcrest Sprinkler Services for the majority of his career, he took immense satisfaction in mentoring countless apprentices, sharing his expertise and unwavering work ethic often expressed as “if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing well”.

Dave was a dedicated provider and family man with a deep faith. He expressed his faith through service to his church community, first as an Elder at Hope Lutheran and later as a Deacon at Northside Community. Those who know him will recall his cheerful whistle, willingness to have a friendly debate about politics, and roll up his sleeves to help whenever it was needed. He found joy in playing board games with family and friends. He loved to garden, cultivating blooms and trimming hedges to be at their best, at home and at the church. He was frugal but exceedingly generous, never letting anyone pay for dinner if he could help it. Above all, Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be missed more than words can express.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of over 60 years, Sharon Emily (née Moore). Together they made their home first in Bridgeport and, for the past 11 years, in the vibrant Fallowfield complex.

Dave is survived by his sons Kenneth William (and his wife Pamela née McMillan) and Dennis Lawrence (and his partner Ian Jefferson), his grandchildren Justin Michael (and his partner Stephanie Shantz) and Brandon Kyle (and his partner Jasmine Van de Laar), and his great-grandchildren Araiyah and Ezran. He is also remembered by his brother Larry (Karen), his brother Jim (Sandra), and his sister-in-law Shirley.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Laura (née Horst); his brothers Bruce, Charles, and Edward, and his sister Sharyn.

A private family cremation has taken place. A small, invitation-only gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You are also encouraged to donate to the WRHN Foundation, in gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program and the Palliative Care team on the 6th floor at WRHN @ Midtown.
