Alan S. Bowers

Passed away suddenly on June 6, 2025 at his Cambridge residence at the age of 71.

Beloved husband and best friend of Paula Bowers (nee Harrod) for almost 50 years. Cherished father of Laura Cecilia (Nelson), Chris Bowers (Rebecca). Proud Poppy of Ethan, Owen, Rhys, Peyton and Gabriella. Dear brother of Sandra Hoegy (Howard predeceased), Ian (Jane), Carol Keller (Ralph). Brother in-law of Bill (Wendy), Murray, Steve (Leslie) and sister-in-law Cheryl Graham and uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Jean Bowers, his in-laws William and Jean Harrod, Howard Hoegy (Brother-in-law) and Tamara Harrod (niece). His dogs, Simba, Bear and Mazy.

Born in Altrincham, England, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister Sandy when he was a toddler. He attended the Ontario School for the Deaf (E.C. Drury) in Milton where he met his high school sweetheart Paula.

Al retired from Tenneco Canada Inc. where he was a welder/machine operator for over 40 years. Al had a love for woodworking, playing sports (in his younger years of course), which turned into watching sports and thinking about starting the next project of which was usually not fully completed. He was a member of the Hespeler Legion where you could find him on Friday nights playing the game of darts and was always up for a challenge of Darts in his “large” basement Dart area where he could have hosted a round-robin dart tournament. 

He will be sadly missed by his family.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart & Stoke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
