Dennis Brian Rabideau

1942 - 2026

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Waterloo Hospice on Friday, July 24th 2026, at the age of 84 years.

Born in Listowel, Ontario on July 20, 1942, the last of ten children, to Maurice and Margaret (Buckley) Rabideau (both deceased). Dennis was a devoted employee of Spinrite Yarns for ten years, working with many others from Listowel who became lifelong friends. He was happy as an employee of Listowel Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, during which time he was disappointed to have had a half sick day.  After retirement, Dennis enjoyed his work with the Middle Maitland River Rejuvenation Committee, planting trees, and native shrubs along the River. He learned much from the staff at Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. His other obsession was golf. He finally had time to play with some skill on many courses with many friends. 

Beloved husband of Ferne Schwartzentruber, best friends for 18 years, happily married for 29 years. 

Loving father of Darlene Cunningham, who predeceased him in 2018. He missed hearing her cheerful, “Hi Dad”. Cherished grandfather of Ryan Cunningham (Sarah Hurdis), and Alicia Cunningham and Cathy Tatsis. Loving great grandfather of Syrus, Slayton, Izzy, and Bentley, and recently Alyea, Mya, and Michael. Dear brother of Marion Janikovitz and her husband, Joe. Predeceased by sisters, Margaret, Bunny, Betty, brothers Francis, Louie, Clifford, Ken, Donnie. Also survived by sister in law, Tillie, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place.  A private gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BIC Canada Global Fund, designated to Amanda Schwartzentruber Moono, Macha Mission Hospital, Macha, Zambia as expressions of sympathy.
