Donald Charles Foster

1939 -2025

Passed away peacefully in Kitchener on Sunday August 31st, 2025  at the age of 86.

Beloved husband and best friend of Sharon Foster (nee Heeps). Their love story stayed true for over 64 years. Loving  and dedicated father of Sean (Michelle) and Michelle (Corey).

Don was a man of quiet strength and loud cheers – especially from the bleachers or behind the lanes. He was his grandkids’ biggest fan, never missing a baseball game, hockey game, or bowling match, and never shy about voicing his opinion to the umpires/refs when the calls didn’t go their way.  His booming laugh and playful grumbles became part of the soundtrack of every season.

He was also a master of cards – whether it was cribbage, euchre or poker night with friends, Don played with heart, strategy and just the right amount of mischief. His love of the game was matched only by the joy he found in sharing it with others.

Adored and deeply cherished by his grandchildren - Ryan, Megan (Todd), Karley (Nathan) and Blake. Great-granddaughter Sophia will be constantly reminded how wonderful and silly her Big Papa was, especially when she hears stories of his antics and unwavering support.

Dear brother-in-law of Morley Ashton, Robert Heeps (Linda) and Yvonne Heeps.

Predeceased by his parents; Harry and Gertrude Foster and by his sister: Norah Ashton. Brother-in-law Jim will be waiting to welcome him up there as well – Heaven has no idea what’s coming….

Cremation has taken place. Don did not want a funeral or visitation. We will be having a drop-in at a Legion in the future, as per his wishes – a place where stories, laughter and maybe a few card games will keep his spirit alive.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society  as expressions of sympathy.

…And if I go, while you’re still there…

Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure behind a thin veil you cannot see through.

You will not see me, so you must have faith. I wait for the time when we can soar together again – both aware of each other.

Until then, live your life to its fullest. And when you need me, just whisper my name in your heart

...I will be there
