Edward Allan Appleby

Edward Allan Appleby  (known by most as Allan or Al) passed away peacefully at his home in Ayr on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of 76.

Beloved husband of Laurie Appleby (Hogg) for 54 years.

Cherished father of Robert Appleby (Lisa), Crystal Johnson (Sheldon).

Proud grandfather of Caitlyn, Sydney, Jacob, Ellie, Carliegh, Sadie.

Dear brother of Joan (John).  Predeceased by his father Roy.

A truck driver for most of his life Al could be found driving his semi truck all over North America.  As far south as Florida USA, all the way North, to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories and all points east and west in Canada.   He always said he was "looking at the world through a windshield". 

Summer Holidays were spent with his family at the trailer on and near Lake Erie. An area he had also visited in his childhood.

He enjoyed most types of motorsports with a special fondness for NASCAR.  Even having his own weekend home built hobby drag car in the 80's. 

He will be remembered by his Grandchildren for days in the pool, his music being a little too loud for Nana, and sneaking Molly "human" food under the dinner table.

Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, in his honour.
