Erika Wilhelmine Lizotte

February 20, 1937 – July 23, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Erika Wilhelmine Lizotte, on July 23, 2025. Erika was predeceased by her husband, Jean Marc, whom she was married to for 63 years. She will be dearly missed by sons Mike and Larry, and daughters-in-law, Angela and Sandra. Erika was born in Hof, Germany on February 20, 1937. In 1956 she made the bold decision to move to Canada to join her sister Betty and settled in Quebec City where she met Jean Marc.  After spending some time in Quebec, they moved to Kitchener where they set up their home and together, they built a successful drapery business serving the K-W area and beyond. Many weekends and vacations were spent with family and friends at their cottage on Miller Lake in the Bruce Peninsula. Erika was very house proud and a master of many things, including, being an awesome cook and an amazing baker.  Among many of her specialties, her black forest cake was legendary. Aside from her exemplary culinary skills, Erika was happiest tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Erika was a loving mother, wife and friend, with a very kind and generous heart and will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington who treated Erika with such kindness and compassion with her end of life care and for the strong support provided as we went through this incredibly difficult time. We would also like to extend our sincerest thanks to the amazing staff at Chartwell Bankside for the kindness and support that they provided to our mother during her time there.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Wellington or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Messages and condolences can be left for the family in the comment box below.
