Gordon MacDonald Leeson
1943 - 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon on Friday March 6th, 2026, at St. Marys Memorial Hospital in the town of St. Marys, Ontario, in his 83rd year, after a yearlong battle with Kidney Cancer.
He was born in Wingham, Ontario, and grew up on a farm outside of Walkerton. In his early 20s he relocated to Kitchener-Waterloo, where he spent most of his life and working years.
Coming from a farm and enjoying the efforts of working on the land, he lived simply on a piece of paradise on the edge of Waterloo that included a small post and beam stucco home complete with a creek, a pond and large gardens.
Well into his 70s he opted for a simpler life of apartment living, trading hours of yard work for long walks and eased himself towards a week of Sundays, eventually retiring from Pope Electrical Supply.
Friend and loving father of Tracey and her husband Rick and cherished grandpa to their family; Matthew (Meghan), Laura and Kendra (Jordan), and great grandpa to Vera and Ariane, bonus grandpa and great grandpa to Taya (James and Eli) and Robyn (Emily). Father to Todd (Anna) and grandfather to Michael and Veronika.
Dear brother/brother-in-law and best friend to Beth, Bill (Ruth), and John. He was predeceased by his parents, Ira and Anne, brother-in-law Bert and sister-in-law Sue. Brother to Hugh (Sue). He is remembered fondly by his extended family and friends.
Cremation will take place. Respecting Gord’s wishes for a simple remembrance, a Celebration of life for family and friends will be held this summer in St. Marys.
