Ken and Monika Schofield

1941 – 2026

Ken and Monika Schofield did things their own way. Recently cared for separately in illness, it seems they chose to be back together, passing away within 24 hours of each other on March 6 and 7. Their passing marks a poetic end to 60+ years shared from their 1966 engagement on Valentine’s Day in Germany to this past Valentine’s Day, when they saw each other in person one last time. Two special people, individually and together, for so many reasons to so many hearts. Their story and hearts carry on in ours.

They are deeply missed by their children, Melissa and Kai (Jocelyn); grandson, Ben; and grand-puppies, Luka and Miggy. They are survived by Ken’s brother, Paul (Marie); Monika’s brother, Detlev (Margrit); sister-in-law, Vivian (Gaetan); and their nieces and nephews, including Jens, Silke, Rick, and Mike. They were predeceased by their parents, Kenneth and Marie-Therese Schofield and Franz and Elisabeth Blume, as well as Ken’s brothers, Stephen and Richard.

We will announce a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Cancer Society of Canada.

Our family would like to heartily thank the care community who worked tirelessly to support them and us in this most challenging time of our lives, we marvel at your skill, dedication and compassion.
