Hannah Long (nee Mathieson)
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the age of 86, surrounded by family.
Hannah recently celebrated 66 years of marriage to her husband and best friend William (Bill) Long.
Beloved Mother of Thomas (Patrizia), Richard (Caroline), Sarah Ann (Glenn) and Belinda (Stacy).
Cherished Grandmother to Mathew (Laura), Mandy Lee (Matt), Heather, Fraser, Hayley, Eric, and Hannah.
Proud Great grandmother to Alexandra, Ryleigh, Ayla, Aria, and Ellie.
Survived by brother Jim (Aileen). Predeceased by parents Robert & Hannah Mathieson, siblings William, Robert, Isabelle, Irene, Agnes, Jessie, Jeanette & Matthew.
She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Marie and Madge and brother-in-law Luigi and many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Hannah was born in Glasgow, Scotland where at the age of 15 she worked as a weaver. While attending the Barrowlands, she was asked for a dance by Bill and that set them on an almost 70-year journey together. Once they married their adventure took them across Scotland, England and then in 1974 with 4 kids landed them in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. Not long after arriving, Hannah worked at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital as custodial staff. The last 27 years of her working career was spent at Carol Currier Residence (Community Living Cambridge) as custodian.
Over the years Hannah enjoyed many trips with her husband and family around the world. She enjoyed spending social time and events with Bill and friends at the Galt Eagles Soccer Club.
Hannah’s priority was always her family and being able to spend as much time being surrounded by them.
Cremation has already taken place. The Celebration of Life will take place on April 4th 1:00-4:30pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Galt Branch 121, 4 Veterans Way, Cambridge, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Lisaard House Cambridge in Hannah’s memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
