Howard Clausen

1933 - 2026

Howard Clausen passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday August 5th 2026, at the age of 93, under the caring support of his palliative care team.

Beloved husband of the late Gwendolyn Walker Clausen, who predeceased him in 1998.

Loving father of Diane and her husband Thomas Richard of Millbrook, and Paul and his wife Ann of Waterloo.

Proud grandfather of Rebecca, Natalie, Eric, Colin, and John; great grandfather of Lucy and Walker; brother of Heiner, and the late Christa and Peter, all of Germany.

Howard was surrounded by family and friends for a surprise birthday party in July, at Aspira Hygate Waterloo Retirement Living, an event that allowed for a celebration to commemorate a long and well-lived life.

To honour Howard’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be a private interment at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your preferred charity as expressions of sympathy.

The family extends its heartfelt thank you to all the staff and his friends at Hygate Living, his extended health care team, with special acknowledgement to Erin McClure and Clodagh Wilcock, who went above and beyond to ensure the best quality of life possible.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Howard is now at peace, reunited with Gwendolyn and all those who went before him.
