James Richard Fowler

It is with profound sadness that the family of James R. Fowler announces his peaceful passing December 10, 2025, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 77.

Born February 18, 1948, Jim spent his whole life in Cambridge (Galt).  Predeceased by his parents Stanley (Buck) and Jeanne Fowler (Marriott) and his sister and her husband (Geraldine and John Houghton)

Beloved husband and best friend of Catherine Fowler (Foot) for 55 years.  Devoted father of Michael, David and Brenda, and Brian and Kelly. Cherished Papa of Joshua, Jacob, Lucas, Mark, Owen and Sam.

Dear brother-in-law of Rhonda and Ross McCoy and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews and extended family.

A vending mechanic by trade for over 45 years with Canteen of Canada retiring in 2012, he had a gift for fixing anything and enjoyed the challenge of making things work again.  “If Papa can’t fix it, no one can.”

Jim was the kind of person everyone could count on, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand when someone needed it. His generosity and practical wisdom regularly touched our lives.

Papa loved the simple joys of life: savoring a good burger, relaxing with a rye and coke, and escaping to the outdoors for camping trips. These moments were even more special when shared with his family, who were always at the center of his world. Whether gathered around a campfire or enjoying a quiet evening together with Catherine and his dogs Lucy and Charlie, James found happiness in his strong family connections.

Nothing gave him more pleasure than riding his motorcycle with Catherine and his biker friends.  Whether it be Ride for Sight, a weekend ride, or a ride after supper, he was in his element.  He loved being at baseball diamonds, football fields and hockey rinks watching his boys and grandkids compete.

Rest in peace dear Jim, know that you are loved by your family and your loyal friends and neighbours.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Cambridge Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

Messages and condolences for the family may be left in the comment box below.
