Arthur Newton
1935 - 2025
When asked if Arthur Newton had a good life, he answered “I did everything I ever wanted to do”, and he did.
From sailing across six continents and countless oceans with the Merchant Navy, to jumping from helicopters into conflict zones in the Middle East with the Royal Berkshire Regiment, Arthur was a truly determined man who saw the world and found his place in it.
After his years of service he returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart. Violet and Arthur shared seventy wonderful years devoted to each other. Together they immigrated to Canada six decades ago, where they raised their beloved daughter, Caroline, and built a beautiful life together.
Over time, their family grew to include Joe, Jelena, Steve, Leo, and Adrian.
Though small in number, our family loves each other deeply. Early in the morning of December 10th, three days after his 90th birthday, Arthur passed away peacefully, surrounded by his closest family. He will be missed every day, but his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
Art was an extraordinary man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true gentleman. A private celebration of his life will take place a later date.
