Joan Elizabeth Bourque

1945 -2025

On Tuesday December 30th 2025 Joan passed away peacefully at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer.  Joan and her husband Joe had been happily married for 57 years.  Joan was a mother, role model and best friend to her daughter Michelle.  Her son-in-law Jamie had often described her “ as one of the good ones” and was always grateful that she had become part of his life. 

Joan’s two favorite people in the world were her grandchildren Andrew and Olivia.  Her lasting impact and genuine love for her two grandchildren will never be forgotten.  Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Alice Bayliss: her sister Linda Shroeder and sister-in-law Moyra Bayliss.  Joan will be missed and remembered by her sister Heather Seager and her brother Larry Bayliss.  Joan was the sister-in-law to Ray Shroder, Zoel and Yolande Bourque, Louis and Rose Bourque, Jackie Bourque and Al Bourque.  Joan had many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will all miss her in the years to come. 

Joan had lost her mother at a young age and had other hardships growing up but these circumstances never gave her a jaded view of the world.  She was loving, caring and was always someone who could be counted on by anyone at any time for all those that knew her.  She treated every person like a friend or family member and every kid in their condo complex like a grandchild. 

Throughout Joan’s life she enjoyed camping, reading, knitting, family picnics and most of all spending as much time with her two grandchildren as she could. 

At Joan’s request, cremation has taken place.  A private gathering or Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to the Ontario SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
