Jocelyne Marie Waddington

1955 – 2025

It is with deep sadness and regret that I announce the death of my wife and partner of forty-three years, Jocelyne Marie Waddington, known to all as Lyne. Her family and mine will miss her dearly. She loved our families and was always happy to get hugs from the younger generations.

Lyne always wanted to be useful, to help and has donated her body to science and research at the University of Toronto. Cremation will take place at a later date.

Lyne loved travel. She was born in Montreal and had strong ties to the east coast, particularly Newfoundland. She worked there and elsewhere in theatre. Music, theatre, word, and movies were some of her passions.

Some of her happiest moments were downhill skiing and heading out on her bicycle. She raised thousands of dollars for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis, doing the MS bike ride. She also volunteered for other charitable events.

Lyne and I set out to backpack the entire Bruce Trail and completed it on September 12, 2001. We could both be cranky but if there was a burger and a beer at the end of the day, all was forgotten.

When I met Lyne, she was a Montreal Canadiens fan and any clash with the Maple Leafs led to a spirited difference of opinion. We cheered the Blue Jays, and Lyne loved CFL football, and interest sparked by her uncle Donald when she was young.

Travel was very important to her, every year there was the question of where to go next. Even as she got sicker, she wanted to go to England to watch women’s football.

All the years I loved Lyne I was never bored. Her ability to make faces, do voices and make a character come alive made many of us laugh out loud. Her many friends will miss her sense of humour, she could really entertain us all. Lyne was complicated but her love and loyalty to her friends and family was never in doubt. She touched a lot of lives.

If you wish, make a donation to the charity of your choice in honour of Lyne’s devotion to helping.

There will be a street party on Peltz Avenue on May 9, 2026. Our wonderful neighbours, friends and family can gather to celebrate Lyne’s life in the way she would love. There will be music, laughter, food and friendship.  Oh yeah, and beer.
