Linda Leckie-Philp

1953 – 2025

The world already feels a little quieter as Linda Leckie-Philp passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025 at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer.

Anyone who knew Linda knows just how ironic that sounds because Linda loved to chat. She never ran out of things to say, and hours could float by as she shared endless stories, updates, family news, and anything else she thought was worth hearing (and even a few things you might not have asked for). Her voice filled rooms, hearts, and echoed in memories, and its absence leaves an empty feeling.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Al Philp, and her children, Leeanne Philp (Shawn Reimer) and Brian Philp (Florencia), who were always her greatest joy. She delighted in being “GiGi” to her grandson, Ethan Reimer, and cherished her lifelong bond she shared with her sister, Brenda Boxall (Dave). She is predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Phyllis (nee Miller), and her brother, Ronald Leckie.

Linda began her career with the Department of National Defence and shortly after became a Customs agent at Toronto Pearson Airport before joining Canada Revenue Agency, where she spent many years as an Internal Audit Manager. She retired with distinction, a reflection of her dedication, her sharp mind, and the pride in her work as a civil servant for Canada.

She had a remarkable gift for making people feel thought of and loved. Birthdays, anniversaries, even the smallest milestones, Linda remembered them all. She had an extraordinary gift for picking out clothes for others. She could see what would look perfect on someone, often pieces no one would ever try and somehow they always became instant favourites in our daily wardrobes.

Linda was always the first to show up when someone needed a shoulder to lean on, a bit of advice, or simply someone who would listen. She was endlessly selfless, constantly putting others before herself and caring about the small details of our lives, right down to how our day went or what we had for dinner. She would do anything to make her loved ones smile.

Linda loved traveling to sunny destinations, but more than anything, she loved being in the water. She could spend entire afternoons swimming and floating, often even cleaning leaves out of a pool or scooping seaweed from a lake just for an excuse to stay in longer. She taught her children and grandson how to swim and turned every dip into laughter, splashes, and joy.

Her afternoons were reserved for keeping up with the drama on her favourite soap opera, The Young and the Restless, a routine made even sweeter by her husband delivering a perfectly brewed cup of Earl Grey tea every day, without fail. It was a simple ritual, but one that reflected the warmth, partnership, and gentleness of their life together.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and volunteers at Grand River Hospital and the WRHN at Chicopee whose kindness supported Linda and those who loved her.

A private gathering was held as per Linda’s request.

In Linda’s memory, please consider donating blood or supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.
