Lois Gill
Mar 30, 1930 – Aug 29, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lois Marjorie Gill (nee Lillie), on Aug 29, 2025 at Stirling Heights nursing home.
She will be dearly missed by daughters Brenda and Kathy, and sons-in-law, Brian and Craig. Survived by brother Bruce Lillie, sisters-in-law Mary, Bev, Fran, Terry, Joyce, Margaret and Karen, and brothers-in-law Burnie and Ralph. A loving grandmother to Brent, Ryan, Theresa, Nicholas and Kristy. Great grandmother to Sophie, Jack, Adelyn, Hayden and MacKenzie. A treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Reunited with her pre-deceased husband Robert Carmen (1993) and siblings Ken, Wes, Jeff, Brian and Marilyn.
Lois had a long career as an underwriter at Gore Mutual Insurance Company until she retired in 1979. She enjoyed bowling with her co-workers, gardening, baking, playing euchre, going to garage sales, and was an avid Blue Jay fan.
Her life was full, until receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s 24 years ago and becoming a resident of Stirling Heights nursing home 21 years ago. For many of those years she was still able to participate in many of her beloved activities, and brought smiles to all when she walked through the halls singing her favorite songs. Gradually the disease took away bits and pieces of her, leaving only our memories of those moments. We will cherish these memories.
The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Stirling Heights, who treated Lois with such kindness and compassion for all those years.
Cremation has taken place. A brief gravesite ceremony will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday Sept 27 at Mountview Cemetery (Blenheim Rd, Cambridge) for the children and grandchildren, followed by a small service welcoming all at 1:00 pm at Stirling Heights nursing home (200 Stirling MacGregor Dr, Cambridge).
A Celebration of life will be held next year for out of town family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada as expressions of sympathy.
