Lorraine Margaret Fuller Pomfrey
1956 – 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Lorraine “Lover” Pomfrey on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the age of 70. She passed surrounded by the love of her husband and children.
Born and raised in Etobicoke, Lorraine was the youngest child and the only daughter in a family of six children. Growing up with five older brothers shaped her into the strong-willed, resilient, and spirited woman so many came to admire. That determination served her well throughout life - especially in the spirited debates she so enjoyed having with her loving husband, Max.
Lorraine was the heart of her family. She was the one who gathered everyone together, believing there was no greater gift than time spent with the people you love. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and belonging. There was always room for one more at the table, another place to sit, another story to share, and another person to love. She celebrated the successes of everyone around her, carried people through their struggles, and gave endlessly of herself, never expecting anything in return. She was selflessness in its purest form.
To know Lorraine was to know laughter. She was a legendary storyteller who could captivate an entire room with her infectious humour, animated expressions, and dramatic reenactments. More often than not, her husband Max found himself starring in those stories - whether he wanted to or not.
Lorraine could solve just about any problem life put in front of her. She approached everything with determination, creativity, and an unwavering belief that there was always a way. What stood out most wasn’t simply what she accomplished—it was how deeply she cared. She never did anything halfway. She poured her whole heart into everything and everyone fortunate enough to be part of her life.
There wasn’t a boring day in Lorraine’s world. She embraced life with endless curiosity, teaching herself to paint, creating beautiful crafts, organizing every celebration, cooking meals that brought everyone together, and building a breathtaking rock garden that became a work of art. She found joy in creating beauty and took even greater joy in sharing it. She loved including others, and she treasured those who made her feel equally included.
She loved to dance, rock out to music, and spend peaceful days outdoors with Max at their camp, planting wildflowers and making memories together.
Of all the roles she held, being a wife, mother, and grandmother brought Lorraine her greatest happiness. She loved fiercely and without hesitation. She celebrated every victory, comforted every heartbreak, gave endless hair pets, warm cuddles, wise advice, and unwavering support. She did the hard things—not because she had to, but because loving her family meant showing up, every single time.
Lorraine had a remarkable gift for creating joy. Whether she was hosting game nights, planning legendary backyard movie adventures, or simply gathering the people she loved around the table, she made ordinary moments unforgettable. Wherever Lorraine went, joy followed.
Lorraine was the beloved wife and best friend of Max Pomfrey, with whom she shared a beautiful 45-year marriage.
She was the loving mother of Sarah Pomfrey and Erin Pomfrey (Joey Thompson), and the cherished grandmother of Zachary, Matty, and Olivia Thompson.
She is survived by her dear brother, Brian Fuller (Joanne).
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Lorne Fuller and Margaret Fuller, and by her brothers Don, Doug, Bruce, and Bob Fuller.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
