Raymond Harold Reinhart
1948 - 2026
Raymond Harold Reinhart was born in Kitchener, Ontario on September 21, 1948. He passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia and COPD.
Ray spent many happy years growing up with his family on a hobby farm. Some of his fondest memories were working alongside his dad, giving hay and pony rides, and spending quality time hunting together.
Ray was the oldest son of 13 children. He was predeceased by his parents Harold (1978) and Gloria (1982), and by his brother Kevin (Monica), in April 2025.
In 1974, Ray met the love of his life Barb. They were married in 1975 and shared many wonderful years together. Barb remained lovingly devoted to Ray throughout his illness, staying faithful by his side until his final breath.
Survived by his loving wife Barb and his grandchildren Ian, Anthony and Lindsay. Stepdaughter Susan, brothers Keith (Linda), Tim (Mary) and Bradley (Kathy). Sisters Karon (late Gord), Dona, Judy (late Brian), Charlotte (late Ray), Darlene, Carolyn (Howard), Patty (Gary), Cheryl (Paul), and many nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.
Special niece and godchild Natalie and her family in Winnipeg.
Ray enjoyed a successful career in the manufacturing industry, where he worked in management for many years. He was a dedicated employee of O.D.G and Doyle Engineering in New Hamburg. While working at O.D.G he earned his mechanical engineering degree but ultimately chose another path in the workplace.
An expert custom woodworker, Ray established “The Sawdust Shop” in 1975, the name he proudly gave to his home workshop. There he designed and built countless custom projects and two sets of cabinets for family. He took immense pride in the pieces he created which reflected his patience, skill and attention to detail.
Ray was an avid car enthusiast who loved owning new cars. Throughout the years enjoyed many vehicles and maintained each one with the same care and attention to detail that he brought to his woodworking.
While Ray was quite a homebody he and Barb did visit most Canadian provinces, vacationed in Alaska and the Yukon, Las Vegas and spent many summers in Vermont.
Many thanks and appreciation for the support given by Ray’s family.
Thanks to all the paramedics who fought so hard to help Ray.
With the help and loving care from grandson Ian, Ray was able to stay in his home much longer before having to enter LTC.
In memory of all the animals that Ray has loved in his life, even his mom’s cats, donations to the Kitchener Humane Society would be appreciated.
