Robert Paul Kneeshaw
1938 - 2026
With the price paid on the Calvary Cross and his bags packed, Paul boarded the final train to glory on Friday September 18, 2026.
Reunited with his bride of 64 years, Paul was the devoted husband of the late Janet Ann (nee Osborne). Cherished father of Jennifer (Detlef Brock) and Mary Louise (Ken Klug) his “Daddy’s girls” are eternally grateful for the endless love, wisdom, and lessons poured into them until heaven called him home.
His grandchildren firmly believe that he was put on this earth to be a Grandpa, and carrying on his legacy of faith, family, love, and laughter are his grandchildren; Juergen Brock (Kristina), Bianca Schneider (Chris), Erika Lloyd (Bradley) and Sarah Klug.
Proud of his family roots and heritage, Paul was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1938 to Carl and Mary (nee Godfrey) Kneeshaw, and was the grandson of Ernest and Lucy Kneeshaw and R.S. and Edna Jane Godfrey. Big brother to Barbara (Dunn), the late Carolyn (Dukelow), and the late Rick Kneeshaw, Paul was also the chosen blood-brother of the late John Donald Sr.
Paul was a saved by grace sinner and devout Christian. He loved to plant seeds of faith and could belt out a hymn of praise that would raise the roof. He loved old time gospel and country music, and once met Johnny Cash in his dressing room simply by walking past security looking like he belonged there. He was a Baden-Powell Scout and Rover leader, group committee chairman and Assistant District Commissioner who did his best, and paddled his own canoe. He was awarded the prestigious Medal of Merit for exceptional service in Scouting.
With a 38 year career in railroading with Abex Industries and ABC Rail it’s no wonder Paul loved trains. He rode many and enjoyed every opportunity to see Canada’s countryside. Paul loved history, politics, good food and television, and he was a larger than life storyteller with a knack for joke telling to “leave them laughing.” He loved family picnics, fairs and carnivals, and would spend his last nickel making “Daddy’s girls” and his grandchildren smile.
Paul was grateful for his Trinity Village family. You were the angels who worked tirelessly to care for and support him on good and bad days, especially as his battle with cancer intensified. The love you gave ‘Grandpa’ in big and small ways was a blessing. Thank you everyone!
In keeping with Paul’s wishes cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date on the shores of Georgian Bay in his beloved ancestral hometown of Meaford, Ontario.
Paul’s final request of all who knew him was simply to remember that family is spelled LOVE.
