Thomas Richard McAleese

June 25, 1963 – May 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Thomas Richard McAleese, who died peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Wellington Hospice in Guelph, Ontario at the age of 61.

Tom was the beloved husband of Susan Jones McAleese, his partner in life, crime and adventure. Together, they shared a love of travel and an open-door hospitality that made their home a gathering place filled with love, laughter and unforgettable meals. Whether it was a planned celebration or a spontaneous visit from friends, Tom and Susan welcomed all with open arms.

Tom worked for many years as a skilled millwright at Linamar then at Cemtol, where he built not only machines but meaningful connections and lasting friendships. His colleagues always loved his sarcastic sense of humour. He was also a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan, but rarely missed a Toronto Maple Leaf’s game with Susan. In his younger years, Tom always enjoyed rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He is survived by his sister Debbie (Greg), his cherished niece Kelsey (Jenn), his step-children Ricky Roberts (Meghan), Tyler Roberts and Natasha Hill (Brayden) along with extended family and many dear friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, humour and the joy he brought to everyday life.

Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Irene McAleese and his step-brother Terry McAleese.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Galt Curling Club, 1610 Dunbar Road, Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s Memory can be made to Hospice Wellington.
