Jonna Lassen

1935 - 2025

Passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Place in Cambridge on Friday May 2, 2025 at the age of 89 years.  

Jonna was married to Jorgen Lassen for over 65 years and will be greatly missed by her loving children Susanne (Gary Coolen) of Fall River, Stig (Jayne Lassen) of Port Elgin and Janet (Andrew Johnson) of Puslinch.  She will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Kurt, Kaitlin, Kristian, Liam and Aodhan and great-grandchildren Olivia, Brinley, Luke, Reese and Jorgen.  She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Ketty Olesen and her brother Kurt and survived by her sister Anny Carlsen. 

Jonna was born and raised in Denmark where she worked as an assistant in a legal firm.  She emigrated to Chateauguay, Quebec, in July 1966 with Jorgen, Susanne and Stig and where Janet was born.  When they moved to Ontario in 1970, she went back to school for accounting and worked as a book keeper both in Deep River and in Port Elgin. She was an active member of the Eastern Star and attended Port Elgin United Church.  She was very creative and loved gardening, drawing, ceramics, painting, and knitting.  Jonna had a soft spot for animals and loved the outdoors, walking and riding her bike.  She loved travelling south in the winters and spending time with family. She found great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
