Ursula Scherfer
Died very peacefully in the morning, August 13th, 2025.
Ursula was kind and caring, and a force to be reckoned with. Highly intelligent and lead by a strong sense of fairness and justice, she moved through the world on her own terms.
Ursula was a devoted and loving mother to ‘her little boy’ and was his biggest supporter, defender, and fan. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her son Tim, her sisters Evelyn and Margit, her niece Valerie and nephew Ronald, ‘adopted’ son Sid, and her many friends, colleagues, and acquaintances, past and present.
As a single parent in the 1970s, Ursula left the insurance industry and went on to earn her law degree from the University of Toronto. She practiced law for a number of years in Toronto and Waterloo before accepting a position with the Government of Canada - Canada Revenue Agency.
Ursula was active in politics, volunteering behind the scenes for many years, and also enjoyed being a member of Toastmasters. She was a talented artist, enjoyed live music very much, and loved the company of family and friends.
Ursula’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Trinity Village Care Centre, who provided excellent care for her over the last fifteen years. Special thanks and recognition goes to the doctors, nurses, and PSWs who did a wonderful job keeping Ursula comfortable in her final days.
A portion of Ursula’s ashes will be scattered in a few of her favourite places, with the remainder being interred at Woodland Cemetery with her mother Helen and her father Benno.
Mother, daughter, sister, friend... You are loved and remembered, always.
Rest in peace.
