Viktor Reimer

1939 - 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Viktor on Tuesday January 27th,  2026 just a few days shy of his 87th birthday after a lifelong battle with juvenile diabetes.

Viktor was born in the Ukraine and spent the formative years of his childhood in Paraguay, prior to moving to Kitchener with his family. He worked as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He enjoyed working as an assistant superintendent in the apartment building where he lived, happy to help out fellow tenants. He had a lifelong love of learning and sharing his knowledge. He loved reading, classical music, old movies and spending time with his wife and daughters. He was on a lifelong search for his better self.

Beloved husband and best friend of Gundela (nee Block). They were married for over 62 years.

Loving father of Manuela Reimer (Jeff Remmert), Annette Reimer (James Nadeau), Stephanie Rettinger, Heike (Sean Walker) and step-daughter Nancy (Greg Warwick).

Cherished grandfather to Kennet, Ryan, Rachael and Rose

Dear brother of Waldemar (the late Irene), Jenny (the late Konrad) Schroeder and Mary (John) Albrecht.

Predeceased by his parents David and Maria Reimer (nee Wiebe), brothers Rudolph (the late Herta) Adolf, and Arthur.

He will be sadly missed by sisters-in-laws Annie Reimer, Sharon Reimer, Liesel Block, Hannelore Block, Erika Block and Traudi Braun, cousins Linda and Hans, many nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbours and special friend, Joanne Bond.

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada as expressions of sympathy.
