Wayne McNabb
1935-2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne, who died peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at WRHN @ Queens Blvd, at the age of 91. He was surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Owen Sound, Wayne grew up with the quiet strength and gentle humour that would define his entire life. In 1953, as a young man ready to build his future, he moved to Kitchener and began what would become a long and dedicated career at B&W Heat Treating.
In 1963, Wayne married the love of his life, Margaret (Nee. Cain) and together they purchased their first—and forever—home the following year. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage this May. Their life together was filled with unwavering devotion, partnership, and deep affection.
Wayne was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting, and found joy in the simple beauty of nature. He had a lifelong passion for cars, woodworking, and tinkering, and was always ready to help family, friends, and neighbours with repairs big or small. His hands could fix anything, and his heart never hesitated to try.
After retiring as plant manager at B&W in 1996, Wayne finally had the time to fully enjoy the hobbies that had always brought him peace and purpose.
Wayne will be remembered as a quiet, kind, and funny man, known for his twinkling blue eyes, gentle presence, and the deep love he held for his wife, family, friends, and pets. His emotional strength, patience, and steady warmth were constants in the lives of those who loved him.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (nee Cain). Loving father of Kelly Sheridan (Jeff) and Jenny McNabb-Dunlop (Troy). Cherished grandfather of Tayler Sheridan, Kaylin Sheridan (Danny Halley), Haiden Sheridan, Hayley Hertner, Arleigh Hertner, and Logan Dunlop Proud great‑grandfather of Ally, Kamilla and Roman. Dear brother of Glenn (Dianne) and Joan Govier (Harold) and sister-in-law Linda McNabb.
He is predeceased by his parents James and Gladys (nee Cook), his infant son James Wayne, and his brothers Lyle (Joanne), Elgin (Pat) and Wilfred, in-laws Frank and Mary Cain, Audrey Elliot (Frank), Jane Thompson (Lloyd), Frank Cain, Hewtison Cain, Cathy Parker (Harold), Vic Cain (Marie), Aileen Wheildon (Francis), Brownlee Cain (Lila)
Wayne’s girls, grandchildren and great‑grandchildren will forever carry the memories of his blue plaid shirts, his early‑morning slipper shuffle, his dad jokes, his gentle belly pokes, and the way he said “behave yourself” with a wink. They will remember the smell of his woodshop, the sound of old country music playing in the background, and the way he could fix anything—from broken toys to broken hearts. They will remember his unconditional love, his emotional steadiness, and the way he made every moment feel safe, warm, and important.
He will be deeply missed by many extended family members, friends, co‑workers, and neighbours whose lives he touched with kindness and quiet generosity.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
Wayne leaves behind a legacy of love, gentleness, humour, and unwavering devotion. His family takes comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in every lesson he taught, every memory he shaped, and every heart he held so dearly.
