Alan McKay McColl

Nov 30, 1942 - Nov 21, 2025 

Alan will be sadly missed by his wife Avril, daughter Iona McColl Thompson, son Alan McColl Jr, his wife Tammy, granddaughter Alison, her husband Matt Thomas, granddaughter Alannah, Grandson Alan Henry, Great grandchildren Ava, Madilyn and Lochlan and his extended family Paul, Patricia and Denise Gouthro and Grandchildren Michelle and Derek.

He is survived by his brother lan. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Ruby and bv his brother James.

Alan played in numerous competition pipe bands over his many years of being a tenor drummer. These included HLI, City of Toronto, Waterloo Police, Cambridge and District, Penatangor, Hespeler Legion, Paris Port Dover. He played in the Edinburgh Tattoo 3 times in his long career. Alan was also a warrant officer in the Highland Fusiliers of Canada and was the recipient of queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond jubilee medal (2012). He was a printer by trade, retired from the board of education in his 65th year. 

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Many thanks to the staff at Paramed, Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Lisaard House Hospice for their kindness and compassion to Alan and his family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Lisaard House Hospice as expressions of sympathy.
