David Barton Fennell

After a long and full life, Dave passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, leaving his wife, Ruth Ramer; his daughter, Lisa (Mike Chiborak); and their children, Robyn and Matthew Chiborak; his daughter, Pamela (Peter Coombes); his step-daughter, Amy Ruhlman (Andy Schaefer); step-daughter, Cynthia Ruhlman (Daniel Walker); and their daughter, Haley Walker.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Bauman) Fennell, in 1984.

Survived by brothers, Ron (Margaret d.) Fennell and Ted (Linda d.) Fennell. Predeceased by brother, Bob Fennell (Joyce); and parents, Jack and Anabel Fennell.

Dave enjoyed his career in education in a number of positions. The first ten years in Brantford and the remainder in Waterloo and Kitchener.

Dave very much enjoyed skiing, hiking, backpacking, hockey and traveling. He often said he had a good life. If you were a colleague in education, a fellow hiker or skier, or part of his Friday coffee group, Dave would want you to know how much he valued your friendship and the experiences you shared.

At Dave's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. We invite you to remember Dave in your own way.
