Douglas Edward Tombs
1967 - 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Tombs, who passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Kitchener, at the age of 59, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Douglas was born and raised in London, where he spent majority of his life. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his career at the BACU, where he devoted 35 years of his life. Douglas was known for his generosity, humour and always down for a good time. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his willingness to help, selflessness, and his love to feed people. His incredible culinary skills were legendary.
Douglas was the beloved partner and best friend o Liz Schippanoski (née Tummillo).
He was a cherished father to Logan and Maverick Tombs, and a loving stepfather to Jake and Jaden Schippanoski. His family was at the heart of his life, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.
He will be deeply missed by his siblings Bonnie, Deb, Patty, Barb, Sandy, Sharie, and Tom.
Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Marjorie (née Smith), and his sisters Judy and Brenda.
Douglas leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, stories, and moments that will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His presence touched many lives, and he will be remembered with love by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre as expressions of sympathy.
