Edward Joseph Schmidt

1944- 2025

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Edward on Wednesday December 24th, 2025, at the age of 81 years. 

 Edward was born in Preston and retired from the University of Waterloo He loved his flowers and his gardens. He enjoyed raising his pets and was always willing to help others.   He was kind and gentle to all that knew him. He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa and brother. He will be deeply missed by many. 

 Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn Ann (nee Kahl). They were married for 57 years.  They first met roller skating, and they enjoyed travelling together. 

 Loving father of Carrie-Anne Hunter and Corey Schmidt.  

 Cherished grandfather of Joshua Hunter (Jessica), Megan Schmidt, Nicolaus Schmidt and Hailey Schmidt. Great grandfather of Arya and Paxton Hunter and Amelia Schulz.

 Dear brother of Beverley Gordanier, Anna Warden, Louis Schmidt and Fred Schmidt. 

Predeceased by his parents; Elmer and Loretta (nee Mapletof).

 Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of KW as expressions of sympathy.
