Hilda Ida Lukits

1947 – 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Hilda at her residence in Waterloo on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 78.

She will live on forever in the hearts of her son, Greg, and her cherished grandson, Brett. Lovingly remembered by her mother, Ida; her sister, Helga Darroch; her niece, Sherry Snyder; and her cousin Rita Ruch-Fillmore

Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Walter Lukits, in 2018; her father, Tony; and her younger brother, Pete Ruch.

Hilda was born in Holle, Germany, and came to Canada at a young age. She retired after many years at Fabricland, where she met and made so many lifelong friends. She loved to craft, sew, and go for drives on the weekend, but most of all, she loved spending time with all those she loved.

As per Hilda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral or celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation as expressions of sympathy.
