Jeffrey Jon Greig

August 19, 1960 – June 20, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Jon Greig in Kitchener on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in his 66th year.

Jeff was the beloved husband and best friend of Marguerite Greig (née Hughey), with whom he shared over 25 wonderful years of marriage.  A devoted stepfather to Terri Leigh and Jack, Jeff was a proud grandfather of four and great-grandfather of seven.

Family was at the heart of his life, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved.

Jeff will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Virginia Blatchford (Larry) and Dana Boswell (Philip); his brother, Xander (Heidi); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald Carmen Greig and Marjorie Mildred Greig (née Close); his brother, Larry Greig (Pat); and his sister, Constance Freda Manning (née Greig).

Music was one of Jeff’s greatest passions. An exceptionally talented trumpet player, he shared his gift with many throughout his life. As a member of the Blue Devils Drum Corps, he travelled throughout the United States, creating lasting memories and friendships through his love of music and performance. He was also proud to participate in many Waterloo Region parades with Preston Scout House, contributing to a tradition that brought joy to countless spectators over the years.

Jeff was fortunate to count renowned Canadian blues musician Mel Brown among his dearest friends and greatest musical influences. Their friendship and shared love of music left a lasting impact on Jeff’s life.

Jeff will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty to family and friends, his remarkable musical talent, and the kindness he showed to those around him.

His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place. At Jeff’s request, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff’s memory may be made to the Grand River Blues Society’s Blues Camp for Youth, a cause that reflects his lifelong love of music and commitment to nurturing future generations of musicians.

Messages and condolences for the family may be left in the comments box below.
