John Paul Sinnott (Paul)
1947 - 2025
On a beautiful sunny day, Tuesday October 7th, 2025, John Paul Sinnott (Paul) passed away peacefully at WRHN@Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital) in Kitchener.
Paul was born in Hamilton Ontario and raised in Hamilton and Cambridge. He earned a diploma in Radio, Television Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now Metropolitan University) and a BA in English (Honours) from Carleton University in Ottawa.
He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen Sinnott (nee Donahoe), and by his brother, Jack.
Paul's professional career allowed him to call many locations across Canada his home - Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria and Kitchener. He worked in a number of professions, including his last position as a Speech Writer for the Ontario Ministry of Labour.
Paul was charming, funny, kind and creative. He had an extraordinary knowledge and appreciation of music and musicians. He played the keyboard, guitar and sang. He was known to break out in song on many occasions. He was also a gifted writer and poet, winning several local awards for his creativity.
He will be deeply missed by his brother, Peter (d. Stephanie) and his sisters, Mary Jean Price (Michael) and Roberta Weiss. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
According to his request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his Life and gathering will be held at a later date.
Many thanks to the staff at both St. Mary’s Hospital and Grand River Hospital, and the Palliative Care Teams at both for their kindness and compassion to Paul and his family.
