Joy Ellaine Simonek

1946 – 2026

Passed away peacefully at Trinity Village, Kitchener on Saturday August 22, 2026, at the age of 80. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Joy loved to sew, she was an amazing cook, and treasured summers spent on Manitoulin Island. She worked at Blue Springs and Bauer Skates, and for over 20 years, she was also a childcare provider.

Beloved partner and best friend of Wolfgang “Jim” Simonek. They were together for over 65 years.  

Loving mother of Sonja, John, Kimberley, Katherine, Brent and the late James Simonek.

Cherished grandmother of Amy, Andrew , Shawn, Christina, the late Josie,  Alyssa , Tristan, Jessika , Jolyne , Alec and Mikayla.

Dear sister of Audrey, Diane (Paul), Gloria (Tom) and sister-in-law of Wayne Koebel.

Predeceased by her parents Walter and Helen Koebel and by her sister Sharon Koebel.

Cremation will take place. A Celebration of life will be held on October 10th from 3-6pm. Please contact the family for the address.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  KW Humane Society or the Alzheimer Society  would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
