Larry O’Brien

May 17, 1971 - May 30, 2026

It is with absolute shock and heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of Larry O’Brien on May 30, 2026.

Larry is very much loved and missed by his big brother Mike O’Brien and sister in law Lisa Ryan. His younger sister Laurie Felleto, his two beautiful nieces Jamie Lynn O’Brien, and Mia Felleto, and his father Mike O’Brien Sr. Larry will also be greatly missed by his partner of 33 years Dana Brodie, and his two incredible sons Kyle and Brandon O’Brien. Larry is part of a very large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and cousins from Ontario and Nova Scotia who will miss him very much.

Larry is pre deceased by his beloved mother Brenda O’Brien , and his brother in law Grant Brodie.

Larry has a great number of friends who are devastated by his passing. He was a fixture in his hometown of Preston and would often be seen on his E-bike riding around town like a madman. He was in fact an OG Preston Boy, and damn proud of it.

Larry loved anything to do with the outdoors such as fishing, biking, hiking, kayaking and camping. His nickname was Crazy Legs and not just for his talent of 90’s dance moves at The Highlands, but because he could run like the wind. His favorite sport was football, and his team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was known for wearing black and yellow from September to February.

Those who know Larry well know that he had a softer side, and would go to the ends of the earth for those he cared about. You always felt safe when he was around because you knew he would never let anything happen to you. He always had his friends backs. He would never hang up the phone or leave the house without saying I love you to Dana or his two boys. Larry was never embarrassed to show them affection in public. The pride and joy of his life were his sons Kyle and Brandon. He was always so incredibly proud of them and not just for school grades or athletic ability, but because he and Dana had raised two beautiful and kind human beings.

When you lose a loved one in this way, you are overwhelmed by all different emotions. Heartbreak, anger, confusion. You wonder if there was something you could have done to change things, and above all you want to scream why. But the truth is that they are the only ones who have the answers and so to fixate on that will only cause you more anguish.

So instead, we will cherish every moment that we had with him, and we will remember and hold tight to all the great memories, and not of how he passed. And we will send him onto his new journey wrapped in forgiveness, understanding, and love.

And when it is my turn to move on, I’ll be sure to bring a cold can of Busch light, and hope that on the other side he’s waiting with my Corona and lime.

As per Larry’s wishes, private cremation has taken place.

A celebration of Larry’s life will follow in the near future.

Messages and condolences for the family may be left in the comment box below.
