Margie Prytulak

1935 - 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother in Kitchener on Monday, May 11th, 2026, one month shy of her 91st birthday.

Mom was born and raised with her three siblings in Toronto by her widowed mother.  Back then, she was a dancing, singing, social, wedding-crashing young girl.   She eventually moved to Windsor where she married and raised three daughters.  She was deeply devoted to us until her last day.

She was gifted in so many ways and wasn't afraid to try something new.  Her favourite places were her garden and kitchen.  Even as she aged, she would put any seed she came across into a cup of soil on her window sill.  In the kitchen, she made the best bread, fudge, fancy birthday and wedding cakes, perogies, and so many other things.  She also loved watching cooking shows, old movies and travelogues.

Mom decorated exquisite Ukrainian eggs, some recently being gifted to Ukrainian immigrants who escaped the war.  She embroidered, sewed, did ceramics, made wine, preserves, and wreaths, bowled, skied, refinished furniture, volunteered, and thoroughly enjoyed working at the University of Windsor.

She really loved music, and could often be heard singing.   She was usually busy knitting or crocheting, and always had a new hat to offer somebody.  Even our dogs received knitted sweaters.

Mom was a constant giver of her time, talents, empathy and love.  Nothing was more important than 'her three girls ', followed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She instilled morals, kindness, honesty and decency in all of us, and we will continue to carry forward all of her qualities we'll miss the most.

She is survived by daughters Linda (Bruce), Lydia (Jamie) and Diane, grandchildren Adam (Holly) and Amy, great-granddaughters Natasha, Olive and Nina, sister Olga, and many nieces and nephews.

Mom, you were simply the best mother and friend to us all our lives, and we know you'll continue to be by our sides until we are together again.  Our hearts are broken, but we know you are gloriously reuniting with friends and family, especially your father and mother whom you missed so much.  You have earned your rest Mom, and left this world a better place.  We will miss you tremendously.

A special heartfelt thank you to the amazing doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital and Freeport Hospital, especially Helena and Anna.

As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place.  In her memory, please share a kind word or time with somebody in need.

Messages and condolences for the family may be left in the comments box below.
