Patricia Aline Thompson
1933 -2026
Our wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and friend Patricia Aline Thompson, died peacefully on January 20th, 2026, after a long, hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Sudbury in 1933, Pat grew up in Malartic, Quebec, and later found her true calling in nursing. She graduated from the Marymount School of Nursing at the Sudbury General Hospital in 1956. Her career took her to Lindsay, Guelph, and Sudbury, Ontario, as well as Galveston, Texas, before she dedicated 30 years to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener. She mentored many nurses along the way and healed the bodies and hearts of countless patients. Her devotion to the care of others knew no bounds, always offered with her special touch and gentle grace.
She filled our home with warmth, kindness, devotion, and a wry sense of humour.
Patricia is predeceased by her mother Corrine Kelly and father Mike Kelly and her siblings, John, Scamp and George. She leaves behind her husband Keith, with whom she shared a loving, 66-year marriage. Son James Thompson (Rhonda), daughter Jennifer Thompson (Alistair), and her three beloved granddaughters: Julia, Sarah and Ana. She treasured her lifelong friends and extended family with whom she shared many laughs and memories.
There will be a Catholic mass in her honour in the spring. Details to follow.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ontario.
